James McGraw, like any kid, loved to ride his bike, jumping curbs and trying to ride no handed. In 1984, he created his first ramp, which landed him on the front page
of his local newspaper. After the article was posted in a local bike shop it caught the attention of local freestylers who knew more about the sport than James. After meeting other guys involved in freestyle, James tore down his ramp and moved into the world of quarter pipes.
Albes bike shop, a Michigan staple in the world of BMX, welcomed James to the Albes freestyle team in 1986. He started competing in AFA events across America and also made his BMX magazine debut in the April 1986 issue of American Freestyler Magazine. From 1987-1989 James competed in all AFA master events consistently placing in
the top three for the expert class and winning his fair share!
After turning pro in 1989, James’ career has reached new heights ranging from consistently placing among top riders in the original Hoffman B.S. contest series, getting involved with the Colorado Rockies baseball team performing pre-game shows and doing shows for the Yellow Design Stunt Team. He continues to compete in events all over the globe from Asia – Europe – Canada – America and anywhere the sport will take him. James has found himself once again in BMX magazines and videos. Most recently he has moved back to Detroit so he could go back to school to pursue a career in broadcasting and video production.
